a little wisdom that just hit me at 3am

humility is the first step in accepting grace. it's understanding that you are not worthy enough, but believing that someone else knows that you are.

the fall semester has finally started. i took 12 hours this summer and made a 3.25. i was only a few point away from a 3.5 and i'm really frustrated about it cause i feel like i worked really hard for A's in both of the classes that I got B+'s in. but i'll take my 3.25. besides, i took my hardest classes this summer so it should be smooth sailing from here on out. i think about graduating everyday and moving to austin. hopefully that will stay the plan and i'll get the job selling homes like i want.

started recording my first record last sunday. we layed down all of the drums and bass in 6 hours which was really good and saved me lots of money. brian and i go back tomorrow to finish up guitars and start laying down lyrics for "Cannot Forget You". the studio is Verge Music Works in Dallas, TX and the engineer is Martin Baird (Sixpence None the Richer, Ben Kweller, Poor Rich Folk [your welcome randy fu]) he's an extremely nice guy and is very patient and quiet, but when he does talk he says some very helpful things and i've enjoyed working with him thus far. the songs are sounding amazing and i can't wait to get this thing finished so you guys can hear it. the track list has changed a bit. it's now going to be "Cannot Forget You, "October", "This Is For You", a new song that I haven't named yet, and "Four Years". it should be out around October. it depends on when we finally finish the recording part. i think i'm gonna call it "The October EP".

if any of you guys are Christians then please say a prayer for my family and my dad. he's unemployed again and it's really hard for a 55 year old with 58 hours of college and heart disease to get a job. especially with the job market the way it is. my family is no stranger to struggling, but it would finally be nice to know that my dad has some kind of security. especially now that he's getting to an age when all of his peers are retiring and he's still trying to find a career. thanks if you do...

back to school work...

no worries...

just love...

hola!

i put up a new song called "started fast, ended slow"

http://www.marshallhooper.com

this song is for my ex-girlfriend. i didn't play guitar when we were together, but she was a huge part of my life so i figured she deserved one. it's about how naive i was at times in our relationship, and it's basically a thank you to her for sticking it out with me so that i could learn somethings about myself and now i'm a better person because of it. she could have just shut the door and walked away, but instead she forgave me and showed me what unconditional love can really mean.

in other news, looks like i could be recording my first real CD come this fall. it will most likely be a 5 song EP. i think the set list for the EP will be:

Cannot Forget You
October
Pink Buffalo (gotta have some flava in there)
She Will Survive
Started Fast, Ended Slow

My friends Brian Douglas Phillips (http://www.thebrianshow.com), Ryan Lobb, and Austin Hooper will be playing on it and possibly some others. Not sure yet about a lot of the details, but hopefully I'll finally have something for you to give out to all your family and friends come Christmas!

no worries...

just love...
